First on the list is Boston! Boston is such a fantastic destination for a girls trip because there are so many things to see and do and it’s such a walkable city! From shopping and dining to museums and entertainment, there’s something for everyone in this charming city.

Boston has some of the best shopping around and the Back Bay area is the city’s premier shopping area. Hit Newbury Street where you’ll find 8 blocks of high-end retailers and boutiques along with some more affordable brands towards the end.

Just a few blocks away is Copley Place and the Prudential Center – two shopping malls with some amazing restaurants and shops.

Faneuil Hall is another bustling shopping destination filled with souvenir shops, popular store brands and novelty push carts.

Breakfast & Brunch in Boston

You’ll want to start your day with a good cup of Joe and some tasty treats and these places will do the trick.  

Central Perk – If you’re a “Friends” fan like me, what better place to go with your besties than this coffee shop based on the iconic show. “The One with Great Coffee”. Grab a cappuccino and relax on the retro couches. The coffee is so good here you’ll be going back for seconds – I know I did. (205 Newbury St.) 

Thinking Cup – This upscale coffee bar serves only the finest coffees, teas, and freshly baked pastries and sandwiches (3 locations Boston Common, North End and Back Bay). 

Tatte Bakery & Cafe – Tatte is one of Boston’s most popular bakeries with 2 convenient locations. This is a great place to start your day off with fresh pastries or breakfast sandwiches. (70 Charles Street or 399 Boylston St.)

Bostonia Public House – On the weekends, the Bostonia Public House has an amazing brunch! You won’t find your ordinary eggs and bacon here. Restaurants by CoJo Management – This collection of restaurants offer an upscale vibe with stunning decor. 

Pinky’s – A new cocktail bar on Newbury Street serving colorful drinks and small plates. (269 Newbury St.)

Parla – This whimsical speakeasy inspired restaurant in the North End takes a bit of a non-traditional approach to Italian food and serves up some incredible cocktails till midnight. You can even get them to go if you eat there. (230 Hanover St.)

From museums, to theater, live entertainment, sightseeing or just strolling the streets of Boston, you will have plenty of options to have fun while you’re in the city.

Visit the Boston Public Library to see magnificent architecture and have Tea at the Courtyard Tea Room (700 Boylston St.)

Stop by the Eataly, an Italian emporium that has everything Italian you’ll feel like you just walked into Italy. Stroll through this mega shop where you’ll find everything from homemade pasta, imported meat and cheeses, decadent pastries and amazing wine shop. Newport, RI

I’ve been going on Girls Weekend trips to Newport, RI since the 1990’s and I have to say, Newport is definitely one of my absolute favorite places to visit in New England. This charming little coastal city has everything a girl could want for an unforgettable trip – from gorgeous beaches, magnificent Mansions, a 3.5 mile scenic Cliff Walk, incredible dining options and plenty of shops and boutiques.

When you visit Newport, you can’t help but feel like you are transported back in time when you take a ride down Bellevue Avenue. Continue down Ocean Drive and you will be treated with incredible views of the ocean.  

Shopping in Newport

Thames Street, Newport’s main thoroughfare, is Newport’s historic waterfront shopping district which is open year round. Stroll along Bowen’s and Bannister’s wharves which are filled with cute shops and boutiques with everything from clothing, jewelry, home decor, and of course nautical-themed souvenirs.

You’ll find the more mainstream retail brands like Gap, Sephora and LuLuLemon over at Long Wharf Mall. For more high-end retailers and boutique shops head over to Bellevue Avenue.

Where to Stay in Newport

Newport’s lodging options range from luxurious boutique hotels to quaint B&Bs, inns and budget-friendly hotels. For the best experience, choose accommodations within walking distance from Thames Street and the downtown area to avoid driving and parking.  

Hotel Viking – This is a classic hotel that has everything you need from an onsite spa, a variety of guest rooms and suites that sleeps up to 6 people and a roof-top bar where you can experience stunning views of Narragansett Bay and Bellevue Avenue. You can even have Afternoon Tea in the Garden Room. (1 Bellevue St.) 

The Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina (49 America’s Cup Avenue) and Newport Marriott Hotel and Spa (49 America’s Cup Avenue) are great choices if you are looking to stay along the waterfront. 

Things to Know About Newport

During the winter months, the Breakers and Marble House are open but other mansions may be closed. Check the Preservation Society of Newport County website for updates. 

Each year Newport hosts the Newport Folk Festival (July) and the Newport Jazz Festival (August) so if you are not planning on going to the event, you may want to plan another weekend as it will be very crowded.

North Conway NH

North Conway, New Hampshire, is a quaint town nestled in the heart of the White Mountains that offers a perfect blend of outdoor adventures and New England charm. North Conway is known for their factory outlets and NO Sales tax! In the heart of North Conway there are over 100 stores at Settlers Green Outlet where you can shop-til-you-drop. For a more New England experience, spend some time in North Conway Village where you can explore the unique shops like Zeb’s General Store, the 5 & 10 and the Penguin.

Chef’s Bistro – Casual eatery with artfully created Charcuterie boards, great selection of starters and entrees and delectable desserts. (2724 White Mountain Hwy)

Vito Marcello’s Italian Bistro A popular restaurant serving authentic Italian classics with their homemade sauces. Reservations are a must. (45 Seavey St.)

Liberty Lounge at Stonehurst Manor – If Martinis are your thing, this cozy bar is the place to go. The lounge menu offers some excellent appetizers to share. (3351 White Mountain Hwy) 

For casual eats, try The Flatbread Company located next to the Eastern Slopes Inn right in the heart of North Conway Village. The menu is limited to its signature wood-fired pizza, salad and some of my absolute favorite desserts like brownie sundae and apple crisp. (2760 White Mountain Hwy)

You definitely won’t be at a loss for finding fun things to do when you’re in North Conway, no matter what season you’re visiting. Whether you’re looking for outdoor adventures, cultural activities or a fun night out, you’re sure to find something that suits your mood.

Where to Stay in North Conway

Eastern Slopes Inn is a beautiful resort with a very interesting history – it’s even listed on the National Register of Historical Places. Tucked in the heart of North Conway village, this iconic hotel is conveniently located next to the North Conway Train Station, just steps away from all the shops and restaurants. It’s also just a short drive to some of my favorite attractions like Diana’s Baths and Cathedral Ledge. There are all sorts of amenities year round on this 30 acre property, including an indoor pool, hot tubs, grills and fire pits. Across the street is Tola Spa. 

White Mountain Hotel & Resort This resort is a little off the beaten path if you want a quieter vibe away from the hustle and bustle of the village and shopping center. With stunning mountain views, two restaurants and an onsite spa, you may not even need to leave. The outdoor pool and hot tub is even open year round. Save the date for their 2024 Girlfriends Weekend which is planned for November 15 – 17, 2024. (87 Fairway Dr.)

If you prefer to be steps away from the Settlers Green Outlets the North Conway Grand Hotel and Spa is a great choice. (722 Common Ct.)

Things to Know About North Conway

Kancamagus Highway

The White Mountains are famous for their spectacular foliage during the fall but that means lots of crowds. Typically, peak occurs around late September/early October so plan early if you will be visiting during that time. 

Ogunquit, ME

Ogunquit is a charming little seaside town with miles of beautiful sandy beaches and a 1.25 mile cliff walk overlooking the ocean off the town center. Ogunquit actually means ‘beautiful place by the sea’! The town is located about 70 miles north of Boston on the southern coast of Maine and is a beautiful destination for both relaxation and exploration.

Ogunquit’s quaint little downtown is very walkable and lined with lots of local shops, boutiques and restaurants. After exploring this area you can follow the cliff walk to the other side where you’ll find Perkins Cove, a quaint harbor village lined with art galleries and more shops to explore. For even more retail therapy, head south about 20 minutes to the Kittery Outlets.

Take a morning stroll downtown and stop by one of these cafes for some sweet treats.

Morning in ParisA French-inspired cafe with a selection of baked goods, sandwiches, crepes and their own house roasted coffee. Order a To-Go Box to have a picnic on the beach. (246 Main Street)

Omelette Factory – This longtime staple is just a short walk from downtown and has “the best omelets”, as well as some amazing blueberry muffins and other baked goods. They even make their own strawberry jam! (Seasonal) (422 Main St, Rte 1)

Where to Stay in Ogunquit

Norseman Resort in Ogunquit

Norseman Resort – You can’t get much better than this Oceanfront resort. Just step outside and you will be on the beach. Availability for this resort during the summer is very limited so be sure to book early. (135 Beach St.)  

The Meadowmere Resort & Spa (74 Main St) and The Beachmere Inn (62 Beachmere Pl.) are properties with an onsite spa, as well as other amenities. 

Anchorage by the Sea – This resort sits on the edge of Marginal Way and offers a variety of guest rooms, suites and cottages in multiple buildings. (125 Shore Rd.)

Fun Stuff in Ogunquit

Taking a walk along Marginal Way is a must! The 1.25 mile stretch hugs the rocky cliffs and has stunning views of the ocean. Along the way you will find benches where you can sit and take in the scenery.

If you like to cook or just love Stonewall Kitchen products, visit its flagship store about 20 minutes down the road in York, ME. (2 Stonewall Ln.)

Dinner & Drinks in Ogunquit

CornerStone is a popular spot smack dab in the center of downtown which serves delicious stone-fired pizza and a great selection of craft beers. (228 Main St.)

The Front Porch Restaurant and Piano Bar also located right in the heart of Ogunquit Village is a hot spot for dining and live entertainment. If you’re looking for a fun night out this is the place to go with its popular sing-along piano bar upstairs. (9 Shore Rd.)

If you’re looking for waterfront dining, head over to Perkins Cove where you’ll find several excellent choices.

Things to Know About Ogunquit

Summer time in Ogunquit is quite busy so it’s best to book accommodations early or travel in the spring or fall when it is less crowded.

Traffic can be a problem in the high season but there is a Trolley service that will take you around Ogunquit. 

If visiting during the off-season some stores and restaurants may be closed but the Chamber of Commerce does keep an online list of establishments that are open and closed so be sure to check before you go. The Ogunquit Playhouse and Ogunquit Museum are also closed during the winter season. 

Ogunquit is LGBTQ+-friendly and many of the restaurants, galleries, hotels and nightclubs are gay-owned and operated. 

Burlington VT

Burlington Vermont is a lively college town located on the shores of Lake Champlain. It’s actually Vermont’s largest city but you won’t feel like you’re in a city with all the natural beauty that surrounds you. The city is known for its iconic outdoor marketplace which is lined with locally-owned shops, restaurants, and cafes and its 8 mile bike path – The Burlington Greenway.

Shopping in Burlington

Church Street Marketplace is a must-visit destination which offers a unique blend of shopping, dining, entertainment, and cultural experiences. Stroll along the cobblestone streets where you’ll find a wide variety of shops, ranging from local boutiques and artisanal craft stores to well-known national retailers. The marketplace is open year round where you can experience street performers entertaining visitors and explore the street murals, and sculptures.  

Breakfast & Brunch in Burlington

The Skinny Pancake doesn’t just have pancakes. In fact their pancakes are actually crepes. This Vermont breakfast chain is located along the Lake Champlain Waterfront. (60 Lake St.)

Black Cap Coffee & Bakery is located right along Church Street and has Latte’s to die for which are made with locally roasted coffee. (42 Church St.) 

Henry’s Diner is a classic diner in an old-school style serving up breakfast favorites all-day. (155 Bank St.)

The Daily Planet – Not sure if you’ll see Lois Lane here but you will get a good selection of dishes with lots of vegan options and a late night menu. This long standing restaurant is a favorite to locals and has a solarium dining room with a bohemian flair. (15 Center Street) 

Pascolo Ristorante features hand-made Italian dishes including fresh pasta, grilled seafood, classic Italian entrees and homemade desserts. (120 Church St.)  

Lincoln’s Burlington speakeasy – Just like its sister site in Portland, Maine, drinks are only $5 and cash only. (191 College St.) 

The Venetian Cocktail and Soda Club has a funky vibe and colorful cocktails. Most nights there is entertainment including live music, karaoke and other fun events. (266 Pine St #122)

Fun Stuff in Burlington

Head over to the next town to visit Shelburne Vineyard for a wine tasting and some entertainment. Be sure to check the event schedule to see what’s happening. 

While you’re in Shelburne, stop by Shelburne Farms, a sustainable farm that makes their own cheese. There are miles of carriage roads to walk along and you can visit the Inn with their formal garden which overlooks Lake Champlain.

Where to Stay in Burlington

The Hilton Burlington Lake Champlain is perfectly situated near Waterfront Park and just a short walk to Church Street Market Place. They even have bikes on hand that guests can borrow to ride the bike path which is along the waterfront.
